PR BEKASI - A mass crowd without heeding health protocols has been reported in one of the largest traditional markets in Jakarta, Indonesia, namely Pasar Tanah Abang on Sunday, May 2, 2021.

For information, Indonesians have a tradition of shopping for clothes to welcome an Eid Al-Fitr.

Previously, a video of the community crowding the Tanah Abang Market, Jakarta, ahead of Eid Al-Fitr 2021 immediately circulated and caused a scene in the virtual world.

A number of parties also highlighted the situation, including the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta, which immediately went to disperse the crowd.

In his statement, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan said there was a surge in visitors at Pasar Tanah Abang on Sunday, May 2, 2021.

Anies Baswedan added, compared to Saturday, May 1, 2021, which recorded 87,000 visitors, on Sunday, people who entered Pasar Tanah Abang reached 100,000 people.

To anticipate a recurring crowd, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is now implementing an open and close system for Pasar Tanah Abang.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is now placing personnel from the Covid-19 Task Force to regulate the people who will visit Pasar Tanah Abang.

In addition, visitors who intend to shop are currently prohibited from entering the market area if they do not comply with health protocols.

Perumda Pasar Jaya, which is responsible for managing the market in Jakarta, will also curb visitors who violate the prokes in every market, including Pasar Tanah Abang.

Chairman of the Covid-19 Task Force of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Prof. Zubairi Djoerban also highlighted the crowd at Tanah Abang Market, Jakarta.

Through his personal Twitter account, Sunday, May 2, 2021, Prof. Zubairi Djoerban expressed his concern with the behavior of the people who stormed Tanah Abang Market to shop.

Prof. Zubairi Djoerban suspects that the crowd that occurs at Tanah Abang Market ahead of Idul Fitri 2021 can compete with other crowds.

"Take a deep breath to see the crowd in Tanah Abang. Yes, what can I say. This crowd will compete with other crowds. Demanding each other," said the Head of the Covid-19 Task Force from IDI via his Twitter account @ProfesorZubairi, reported by PikiranRakyat-Bekasi.com.

"This one may be gathered together, why can't the others. There is another national drama. Yes, hopefully everyone is well. Amen," said Prof. Zubairi Djoerban.***
